Reference requests - please follow these instructions

Note: I will not be providing references unless these instructions are followed.

For students who took one or more of my classes and want a reference, please email me at least 2 weeks in advance and please include the following in your email:

• details on the program you are applying to,

• the deadline for submitting references,

• clear instructions on how the reference should be submitted,

• attach a CV and a transcript, and clearly indicate in the body of the email the grade, and if applicable the narrative evaluation, for the class you took with me,

• attach your draft cover letter and other materials you are submitting with the application,

• in the body of the email, please include a few bullet points of things you learned in my class or things it would be helpful for me to mention in a letter.

For former or current TAs, RAs or students who otherwise worked with me and want a reference, please email me at least 2 weeks in advance and please include the following in your email:

• details on the program you are applying to,

• the deadline for submitting references,

• clear instructions on how the reference should be submitted,

• attach a CV and a transcript, your draft cover letter and other materials you are submitting with the application,

• in the body of the email, please include a few bullet points of things you did for me, learned through me or things it would be helpful for me to mention in a letter.
